Summer Ski/Snowboard Storage:
- Clean skis and bindings - A light soap and water solution works well. For the grease on sidewalls and bases uses a mineral spirits solution to get the gunk off.
- Inspect skis for delamination and rock damage (gouges in bottoms). You may not know that some structural damage may have occurred during the season; check edge box, tips and tails. Look for gaps or an uneven base (base that has hit by landing on a rock).
- Tune your boards. Get all the rust off.
- Put a heavy wax on the base.
- Rub a bar of wax vigorously over the edges so they are completely covered. This will prevent any oxidation during off season.
- Clean the bindings again, taking care to remove all dirt and grime around the binding.
- Store in a cool dry place closet, under the bed in spare room, etc. Basements and garages do not work so well. You need to keep your boards away from exposed concrete moisture and heat.
Note: Follow the same process for snow boards and blades.
