Holiday Valley Jan 2012 Trip Recap

In spite of the doubtful weather and lack of snow in Cleveland, 43 hearty, courageous Lewis Ski Club members loaded the bus in the mild, predawn weather optimistic that a sketchy ski-day Friday in Holiday Valley is better than a great day at the office. We welcomed first timers including, Jim C., Melissa W., Brandon P., Sarah M., and Luanne K., to name only a few of the many. We were treated to a hearty breakfast of muffins, granola bars, fresh fruit, water and juice skillfully procured and served by assistant trip leader, Tom Vannuyen.

Additional club members car pooled to Ellicottville and took advantage of the group lift ticket rate. Many brought their own boots, skis and poles for to tune up their equipment for the new season, others found the quality of rental equipment excellent for both experienced, novice and newbee skiers. At 4:30 we emptied the slope side drinking establishments and loaded the bus for Ellicottville dining. Many have their favorite apres ski fine dining spots inlcuding; the Gin Mill, Bar, EBC, Tips up to name a few. The shopping is always fun from homemade candy, to jewelry and sports wear. We enjoyed a restful return trip with the Warren Miller movie entertaining those who could keep their eyes open.
