Nordic Outing to Chapin Forest.

Never been cross country skiing before? Try it out. Club volunteers will be available to get you started.

Come ski with me where the heels are free…

Come on out to Chapin Forest and Pine Lodge, in Geauga County, for cross-country ski lessons and/or a tune-up of your XC skills! We will have Lewis Ski Club members available to lead small groups in classic and skating technique.

Pine Lodge has rentals, if you need them. We’ll meet outside the lodge at 1:00pm.

Chapin Forest has groomed trails, rental equipment, lessons, restrooms and a place to warm-up and get snacks. If you’ve never cross country skied and have been thinking about trying it, this is a great opportunity. Several club members have volunteered to help beginners get started.

Post Trip Summary

The Lewis Ski Club went to the Lake Metroparks Chapin Forest Reservation for some nordic fun. Many thanks to Jim Wright and Larry Anderson for coming out to teach the group and to ski with us. A dozen hearty souls met for an afternoon of x-country skiing at Chapin Forest. Several folks were first time x-country skiers and they were quick learners thanks to Jim Wright’s excellent instruction. The rest of us benefitted greatly from Larry Anderson’s fine tutelage as well. After practicing our snow plow turns on the practice ramp we ventured onto the trail, paused to take pictures, and enjoyed the scenic overlook. The snow conditions were good in spite of a few thin spots. We skied for about two hours then headed in to warm up in the Pine Lodge before driving home. A good time was had by all.
