When posting email to a mass mailing email list, there are some guidelines which should be followed:
Please be sure each email has a clear and descriptive Subject Line. Some list subscribers use the Subject Line contents for determining which emails to read and which ones to simply discard.
Most responses to emails posted to the list should be directed to the original poster and not addressed to the entire list. For example, responses such as "count me in" are not of use to everyone on the list. Private correspondence should remain private and not sent to the entire group. Send personal messages directly to the individual and not by way of the email list. Think twice before replying to all of the list, asking the question "Is this information of importance to everyone on the list?" before sending the message.
Each posting should include a clear and descriptive content. For example, a message of the type "I'm going skiing tomorrow" isn't very helpful, especially if the email is received days later. Be sure to include a clear and concise description of the dates, the meeting times, the meeting locations and how to best get in touch with you for more information.
The email list is unmoderated, which means that posts go directly to the entire list without prior approval. To keep email posts uncensored and to ensure a timely posting of all messages, please ensure that only pertinent messages are posted to the list. Members who post messages which do not meet minimum expectations may be removed permanently from future participation.
The email list is public and it is important to be able to share information with the entire group. If for some reason you find something posted to the list objectionable, please do not post your objections to the entire list. It is only appropriate to voice your personal complaints directly to the individual responsible for the content and not to the entire list.
All of your subscription status information can be managed via a web-based form. A link to the web-based form is included in the footer of every email sent to the list. Basic information on managing your email list subscription information can also be found on our general email list information page. Please do not post messages to the list asking how to maintain your subscription information or to be removed from the list. Do you really want several hundred responses? Should you need additional help, please contact a club officer.
