Float The River

Date:
Sun, Aug 30, 2020 - 10:45 am
Description:

Come spend a lazy Sunday floating down the Cuyahoga River along with some of your favorite skiing friends/family members! The club will host an innertube outing Sunday, Aug. 30 starting at 11 a.m.. with Float the River (floattheriver.net) starting in beautiful Cuyahoga Falls.

Meet at the blue parking garage (2035 Old Town Loop, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, 44221) at 10:45 a.m .

Just show up with your bathing suit and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet (don’t bring flip flops, you will lose them).

To keep things simple, we will not register for this event through the Lewis website. Instead, you can sign up at floattheriver.net. Make sure to sign up for the 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. session (we should be back before 2 at the latest) so you're with your fellow members. Rental rates are $20 per tube rental (23 after taxes) and $10 for a smaller cooler tube. The company lets people gather with their friends at the parking garage and up to five people can be clipped together in the water.

FYI: Face coverings are required on the shuttle buses and when you are receiving your tube on the riverbank. It is recommended you purchase a wet bag/pouch of some kind if you want keep your cell phone/other items dry in case you get splashed and/or drop them in the water. (they will have some there for sale as well). Disposable drink containers and alcohol is also prohibited on the river (we enter and exit the river in city parks). Reusable water bottles and insulated coffee mugs are permitted. The water in this area is very shallow and rarely over knee high; life preservers are not required but available if requested. Afterwards, there are plenty of nice restaurants in downtown Cuyahoga Falls that we can all go to. However, there isn't anywhere to change clothes, so keep that in mind.. A cover up of some kind should be fine for the patios at least.

If you are going, please email group leader Allison W. at riverfloat2020atlewisskiclub.org so she can look out for you.

Tubing has been getting more popular by the week, so don't wait until the last minute and risk a sellout. Allison has also recently taken this trip. so she can answer most questions. Cancellation policy: If the weather looks bad, we all have to reschedule more than 24 hours in advance or we lose our money. If the company itself cancels tubing due to bad weather or fast water, they will allow us to reschedule without penalty. The company's season ends the next week after Labor Day weekend and they only operate Friday-Sunday then, so our window to reschedule is limited.
