Come fly with me... through the trees...

The Lewis Ski Club will be ZIP-LINING at the newest zip-line in Ohio. The Canopy Tour at Common Grounds just west of Oberlin offers the latest zipping adventure and it's so close to home!

They say: "We combine stunning natural beauty and breathtaking heights to offer you an unparalleled adventure of self-discovery. Buckle in for the ride of your life and leave everyday life and stress behind. Take an exhilarating trip through the transformative treetops of our 30-acre property in the beautiful Vermilion River Valley. Our 2 1/2 to 3 hour tour consists of a variety of fast zip lines, aerial bridges, stairways and soaring platforms suspended high in the trees that provide a spectacular adventure, and an incredible, uncommon view of the gorgeous natural landscape."

Zip When: Sunday, June 29th beginning at 2:00pm, we'll zip in groups of 8 every hour. (If there are enough of us, they'll send us off every half hour.)

Afterward, let's all meet at Magpie Pizza (65 East College St., Oberlin, OH 44074 ) for a casual dinner together to share stories and sights from our adventure. Magpie has artisan pizzas and a wide variety of craft wines and beers, and even unique non-alcoholic sodas. http://www.magpiepizzaoberlin.com

Post Event Summary

On June 29th, 8 members of the Lewis Ski Club (Maryann, Eva, Cindy, Luis, Beth, Jim, Gwen, and me) gathered in Oberlin to try out the new zip-lining course at the Common Ground center. We were only 3 zips in to the course, however, when word came over the radio that a bad storm was headed our way. The guides began belaying us down off the next platform and we headed in to shelter. Most of us even made it – sorry Luis -- he was one of the last to descend and got SOAKED. By the time the storm blew over, it was too late for us to go back out and try again, so we got rain checks (quite literally). No plans, yet, on when we’ll reschedule, but stay tuned! What we did get to experience was great and we’re all looking forward to returning and finishing our adventure!
