3. Treasurer Report
Room Contract–Need to finalize meeting days because contract is up for renewal soon, we can book one less meeting and still get the cheaper room rate. The room costs $125/month and with refreshments, it costs the club about $150 total.
There was a discussion about cutting the Sept. meeting because it is the day after Labor Day, it was decided to still have the meeting but move it one week later. Hulick said September tends to have lower attendance than other months.
Dubas also discussed the rate for the Zoom software; as Vannuyen’s name is listed as group contact, they would have to figure out how to change that.
Dubas reported the outstanding balance at Fifth Third Bank is 13,082.45.
4. Alpine VP–Mathey proposed several suggestions for the next year
Themed meetings- He’d like to see more activities during meetings. He suggested a ski tuning clinic where members could do demonstrations, wine and cheese night and a game night. If successful, they could be annual events like the chili cookoff, the international food potluck and the upcoming ice cream social for the June meeting. Manthey thought these ideas could be discussed at the August picnic.
Officers were enthusiastic, with some suggestions including bingo or trivia for game night, with Manthey asking if a Bingo set could be bought or borrowed. Telzrow reminded him Donenschwaben doesn’t allow outside alcohol to be brought in. Dubas was asked if the room contract included an exit time, she said she’d have to look into it.
For 2026 destinations, Manthey suggested adding another day trip to Holimont in addition to the two to Holiday Valley. Hulick said the trip to Holimont would have to be more since group lift tickets are more expensive ($13 for last year).
Weeklong trips: Vannuyen said he was originally interested in going to Japan next year, but abandoned it due to being discouraged by vendors’ response and the high prices. However, he is currently working on proposals for a trip to Banff, Canada late Jan/early Fedruary. It would be best for the club if we used the same vendor for this trip as for the one to Big Sky (Sports America), but he is still working on it. He estimates the cost to be around $2,250 altogther, but air prices are not out yet.
Williams said 17 have signed up for Big Sky already (out of 28) and she is waiting for the air price to come out.

6. Activity VP
Brainstorming Sessions- Telzrow said many great ideas came from this group session and is still working on scheduling some of the activities. Hulick said she thought this could become a twice yearly activity and suggested doing another one in September for winter activities.
Telzrow said her sister Bernadette is leading a hike in the Cuyahoga Valley April 27 and she would personally be attending a Bike Cleveland event the day before. Also scheduled is a mini golf event at a BirdieTown Mini Golf + Lounge in Lakewood on May 25.
Telzrow asked about how to collect payment for the Guardians game in late August and the club picnic in early August. Dubas said the club needs to decide if we want to no longer use Paypal and go back to checks. To do this, she could get a club PO Box, but was unsure of prices. The concern is that membership is not required to attend the Guardians game.
7. Publicity VP
May Newsletter- Williams was praised for her beautiful draft newsletter, which reintroduces the club’s officers and has many skiing photos. The newsletter usually goes out to members the weekend before a scheduled meeting. Williams said she would be out of town May 1 so it would be done by then. Vannuyen said he would produce a report on the Mountain Travel Symposium event in Snowmass he attended where he spoke to many ski trip vendors.
Williams also asked about conducting a survey of club members on various topics, including trip destinations they were interested in. She was unsure which software is best and found getting the pro versions (Surveymonkey) are quite expensive.
She also asked for help on the Presque Isle trip she is leading on June 7 as she isn’t that familiar with the area and needed help figuring meeting places and other logistics.
Vannuyen asked her about trip insurance for the Big Sky trip, she said that is a question participants see when they are signing up on the Sportsamerica website.
8. Recorder - Wood had a couple questions about submitting minutes and found she didn’t have permission to post minutes on the site at the time. Webcurator Swank was contacted to get this changed.
9. Trustees- Marcinko said she had signed up several officers for the Cleveland ski show May 10.
