About the International Children’s Games
The International Children’s Games (ICG) are an International Olympic Committee (IOC) sanctioned event. Children from cities around the world between the ages of 12 and 15 participate in a variety of winter sports. The aim of the ICG is to promote peace and friendship among the world’s youth through a focus on sports. The first International Children’s Games were held in Slovenia in 1968. Cleveland was selected to host the Summer International Children’s Games in 2004.
Ten Cleveland athletes aged twelve to fourteen will represent Northeast Ohio and compete in nordic skiing, alpine skiing and orienteering. Other disciplines at the Ufa Children’s Games include figure skating, ice hockey, short track skating, and snowboarding. At least 3 members of the team have been or currently are members of the Lewis Ski Club.
